Magnolia

 MAGNOLIA - - APPOLO
Has rich pink,-purple flowers on a 30’tree. The tepals are some what pointed. M. Apollo will bloom as a very young plant and in time will cover itself with great amounts of flowers.

 MAGNOLIA - - BIONDI
The earliest blooming of any magnolia we grow. The plant is usually in bloom in late February. The kobus type flowers are fairly small white, but cover the plant. Always whets our appetite for the latest magnolias.

 MAGNOLIA - - BLUSHING BELLE
(M. ‘Caerhays Belle’ x M. ‘Yellow Bird’). Looks similar to M. ‘Caerhays Belle’, but is much hardier and narrow growing. This superb plant from Dennis Ledvina, Green Bay, WI, is a step forward for more northerly growers.

 MAGNOLIA - - BRIXTON BELLE
Sweet Simplicity x Black Tulip x Sir Harold Hillier. Said to bloom one year after grafting. This New Zealand hybrid has a large, rick pink M. campbelli flowers. But, blooms in 1-2 years not like M. campbelli (25-30 years). Very Limited.

 MAGNOLIA - - BURNCOOSE
We got our original scion wood from Dr. Corbin’s garden in Portland. This large growing hybrid is very vigorous. The flowers are 10-12” across and the richest pink purple. The color is truly striking in March.

 MAGNOLIA - - BUTTERFLIES
One of Phil Savage’s early hybrids. Magnolia ‘Butterflies’ has small rich golden yellow flowers before any leaves appear. This plant is very hardy and blooms later, missing most frosts.

Flowers are similar to M ‘Caerhay’s Belle’, but are deep glowing purple pink. Rarely offered in this country.

Has lovely small 3-4” pink-orange flowers in early April. This hardy hybrid is a nice color change from the typical pink or yellow.

M. 'Woodsman X 'Tina Durio'- One of August Kehr's best hybrids. It's wild to think that M. 'Woodsman' with its purple green and yellowish color could produce this lovely deep pink hybrid. This quick grower will grow well in many parts of the country.

The Yulan magnolia is one of the most glorious of any flowering trees. Grown for hundreds if not thousands of years. This super plant has thousands of white flowers in March. We have listed this great plant since our first catalog. It’s still here because its so lovely.

This superb National Arboretum hybrid is a rough, tough plant. It will take heavy clay, grow in parking strips and dry areas once established. Our mature (25 year) plant is 25-30’ tall. The purple flowers over the plant in late March. Very adaptable, from Southern California to Michigan

PPAF- is a dwarf 10-12’ shrub. Everyone always asks for a “dwarf” magnolia with tulip shaped flowers. This New Zealand hybrid will have dark purple flowers in spring followed by lighter purple sporadic flowers in summer.

This Dennis Ledvina hybrid has arching yellow flowers. They are not fully pendant, but attractively arching. M. accuminata x Norman Gould has pretty purple new foliage.

Red Lotus Tree. This Asian evergreen magnolia has pink-red tepals on small flowers. The foliage looks somewhat like M. virginiana, but the small red-pink flowers are a great surprise.

One of the first of the New Zealand hybrid magnolias. M. ‘Iolanthe’ is a campbelli hybrid, but it will bloom at 2-3’ tall. The white flowers have a pink blush to them in March. Will grow 2-3 feet per year when young.
