 ADIANTUM - VENUSTUM -
This superb ground covering fern has small round leaflets. The light green to bronze new growth grows over the top of the darker green mature foliage. This fern makes a lovely ground cover at the foot of rhododendrons.

 ASPLENIUM - TRICHOMANES -
Maidenhair spleenwort – This pretty little fern has upright fronds to 4-6”. This plant grows in every continent but Antarctica. Grows well in good drainage of a rock garden or wall.

 ATHYRIUM - FELIX FEMINA - MINUTISSIMA
This male fern is a ground covering plant up to 12”. The fronds are a soft, pretty green all summer. In fall, it will turn yellow. Makes a good companion for shrubs.

 ATHYRIUM - NIPPONICUM - GODZILLA
This giant painted fern comes from Tony Avent, Plant Delights Nursery. The purple, gray and green painted fern grows much larger and even more spectacular than athyrium pictum.

A southern Chilean native that will have large evergreen leaves with large rounded leaflets. This 2-3’ fern for milder climates. Our plant has been here for 15 years and survived 5-10° F.

Our northwestern deer fern grows in the Cascades and Coast Range. This evergreen has new fronds that are vertical and the older fronds are horizontal in the ground. This wonderful fern has black stems with deep green foliage. Beautiful plants.

 CHILANTHUS - SINUATA - ASTROLEPIS SINUATA
This attractive gray-green fern is great in a rock garden with gritty gravel soil. We are growing our plants in compost in the garden, especially in winter must be well drained.

This form has large rhizomes. Said to have a large trunk. This eastern Asian form is evergreen but the fronds will lay flat on the ground.

Has evergreen leaves year round. In spring and summer the foliage is brilliant copper orange. Our plant is 1x1’ and is a wonderful contrast to hostas and other woodlanders.

 DRYOPTERIS - TOKYOENSIS -
A Japanese, Chinese or Korean native that Sue Olsen in her great book, Encyclopedia of Garden Ferns , says.,”D. tokyoensis is the visual garden equivalent of a willowy ballerina “on pointe’” . The slender fronds area very upright. This is a great fern for the wet areas of the garden.

 OSMUNDA - CINNAMOMEA -
The cinnamon fern has a vase shape. The 2’ fronds arch out to 18”. The light green fronds don’t have spores. The center fruiting stems get 2’ tall and are cinnamon colored. This deciduous fern has beautiful yellow fall color.

The royal fern is a wow! Our 15 year old plant is 8'x8' and has a 1' trunk almost like a tree fern. Every year this deciduous fern gets larger foliage as the plant gets larger. Can grow in really wet soil or well drained soil.

 POLYSTICHUM - - TSUS-SIMENSE
Korean Rock Fern- This low growing Asian fern was brought to this country as a florist fern for boutonnieres. It was discovered that is was hardy. The deep green leaves get up to 18” tall.

Asian Saber Fern- This evergreen fern has upright fronds that get to 2’ tall. The fronds can withstand snow without breaking. This handsome would be lovely in any garden.

The tassel fern has a pretty glossy deep frond on a plant 12"-18" tall. The unfolding croziers are interesting to watch each spring.

But it' actually very British. The soft fronds are lacy and open showing the fine leaflets. Grow anywhere except brilliant sun. We have plants through our garden and alwayS enjoy this excellent evergreen.

This plant is so fabulous that fern experts say when you see it, buy it. You may not see P. setiferum ‘Bevis’ again. This lovely evergreen fern has thin fronds that are curved at the apex.

 POLYSTICHUM - SETIFERUM MULTILOBUM DIVISLOBUM -
The best of the "Alaska" ferns actually comes from Europe. We continue to try to keep enough of this fern propagated to keep up with the demand. The fronds are light green and are literally fluffy with so many leaflets. We will try hard to grow more for next year.

 WOODWARDIA - FIMBRIATA -
Giant Chain Fern is a native to coastal California to British Columbia. The plant can get 4-8’ wide with evergreen fronds. Should be in a protected spot. Our plant is among rhododendrons and withstood 6-8 degrees.

 WOODWARDIA - UNIGEMMATA -
This fern has been hardy in our garden at 5 degrees but is said to be zone 8. The evergreen foliage appears in spring through summer and is rich rusty red. By fall the large tropical looking fronds will get 18” long. Spectacular small plants but will grow fast.
